Passion Fruit from seed
I got hold of a couple of Nelly Kelly purple passion fruit and have saved some seed from one. I'm wondering if they will grow. All I can find in the nurseries are grafted ones - different colours, and after growing one tasteless dried out thing I dug it out. These are the old fashioned ones that just about grew wild. They are used for root stock on the modern varieties, but I like the purple ones best. I'm fermenting the seeds but have it somewhere in the recesses of my mind that it needs a male an female to get fruit - Am I imagining this?
Re: Passion Fruit from seed
Nelly Kelly does not need a male and female, one will happily self pollinate. I am not sure how successful it will be for you, as I think the rootstock on the graft is for growing in cooler climates.

Ahhhhh. I'll give it a try anyway. That might have been what I was thinking of. Thanks Guzzi

I've only tried growing banana passionfruit from seed. They took an age to germinate, grew nicely for a month, then a snail decided young passionfruit plants were on the menu. Razed to the ground!
