Summer garden over
The frosts began earlier this week. I've now ripped out most of the tomatoes, chillies, capsicums, pumpkins, melons and pepinos (from your cuttings madgnome). Part of the tomato bed will become the garlic bed. Not sure waht the rest of it will be.

Re: Summer garden over
I think my cucumber is about finished too Damn it was a FAB TAB of a cropper too.
Re: Summer garden over
I am slowly ripping out tomato plants. Some died during the heatwave, some are now succumbing to the cold nights. Some still have fruit ripening up.
The zucchini are still doing well, melons are goners, chillies and capsicums are still looking good. Cucumbers are finished. So quite a bit of tidying up to do.
Ray, do you need more pepino cuttings?
Garlic is always good. Don't forget leeks, radishes, beetroot, lettuce, chicory.

Re: Summer garden over
I took six pepino cuttings and have them indoors madgnome. I'm hoping they'll make through till November when I can plant them out.
Apparently peas and garlic don't make good bedfellows. What could I plant between them to screen one from the other? The pea trellis is in the bed where the garlic will be going.

Re: Summer garden over
Parsley, radish or spinach might be good as they are compatible with both peas and garlic.
Re: Summer garden over
Radish, yes, I like that. Mad gnome mentioned radishes on another thread as well. Must be a good omen. I could put in some daikon as the leaves are also a tasty cooking green and some of those pretty chinese winter radishes! Thanks Blossom.
