My new no-dig area
I've had a ball playing in the garden today. Making a new no-dig area for growing vegies

I plan to plant seedlings near the new edge, and let the summer plants ramble over the new area.

Looks good Lucky. I love seeing lawn given over to garden.

I love lawn as its great for adding the cuttings to the compost heap. But it's a water guzzler.

If you dig up sod in squares, turn it over and put back down Lucky it will break down very quickly - think of all that grassy nitrogen turned straight back into the soil. You can then put your layers of wet newspaper over this and keep adding to your layers - repeat the layers and go as high as you like - gives you more depth to plant into. You could even put a hole through the newspaper and plant into the turned sod if you needed the extra depth for a plant - get a fruit tree started for instance. Hard work and I've always had help or done a bit at a time - just an idea
I love how you give heart and soul to your patch of earth and make it spring to life. It's true isn't it - you get back what you put in
