Hydroponics
Was watching Gardening Australia , there was a fellow growing by hydroponics and I thought I would give it a go here.
In summer, when we need our salad vegetables the ground gets too hot for them to grow , I have tried lettuce in pots under trees and in the Bush house with the orchids and ferns but they still bolt to seed.
Has anyone any experience with hydroponics, I would love to learn.

Re: Hydroponics
I diddled with hydroponics for a period of time, when I had limited space. Economically it was a disaster, since I had to add artificial heat and light. I have deep reservations about the method if practiced on a small scale.
We are supplied with tomatoes during the Winter months from commercial hydroponic growers, and I quit eating tomatoes in the Winter, since the flavour and texture is abysmal.
It takes a lot of equipment, and effort with hydroponics to obtain produce in any reasonable quantity. With unlimited funds it could be interesting.
