September is really the earliest as the soil is starting to warm up a bit then. The first three days are good, but particularly good on 28th September which is dark of the moon in earth and good for root veggies.

I love that expression: the dark of the moon! Eerie. I'll definitely be sowing lots of carrots then. We're still well into frost territory but I figure they'll manage if I cover them.

I ended up sowing some seeds as they are "all season" and I have so many seeds.... if they don't do anything....I'll still have oodles for another sowing.
