Not a Cabbage!
I planted cabbages and was amazed to find they grew large stalks. Well, yesterday I nearly yanked them out, only to discover that there are about 9 of these guys, Romanesco Broccolli, just getting started, with this one of pickable size. So it was just the wrong label, not too much nitrogen after all!

Hey I want to grow them - let me know what you think of them. Was it wrongly labelled seed from somewhere Blossom?

They look absolutely stunning.
Who are you going to blame for the wrong labels? Gnomes? Fairies?

Re: Not a Cabbage!
I grow these every year. I actually prefer them to green Broccoli. It was me - I planted all the greens and thought I would remember where I planted things. So my memory told me cabbages but it was wrong. The fairies stole my memory sprinkling fairy dust...... At least I can find the celery. I bought the last seeds from Kings seeds. They are called BROCCOLI ITALIAN PRECOCE in their catalogue. Eden have them but call it Broccoli Romanesco. I just had a look and Kings are out of stock but Eden seem to have them. I will bag a head because the green broc has finished so they won't cross.

I love the look of them as well as the taste. They always remind me of mandelbrot pictures:
