No - it's not a book on how to poison carrots that rabbits eat! It's supposed to be the bible of authentic Spanish cooking, rivalling The Silver Spoon of Itakian cooking. Ir arrived in the mail today from my daughter as a belated Mother's Day Present and I've spent hours looking through it. A really well set out book with some excellent vegetable, pulses and fish recipes. I'm going to be trying a lot of these, escpecially the smoked fish ones.

Must admit I did a double take - I associate 1080 with dead dogs pale

Will check it out - haven't heard of the authors and don't know much of anything about Spanish cooking - only tapas. I sometimes make a sort of Spanish soup with tomatoes, bread and garlic blended with oil - like when you make mayonnaise. YOu put it in a bowl and add your smoked fish. I don't particularly like smoked fish so add ham for myself instead.

Ahhh....I have it sitting in my cookbook bookcase, just beside the Silverspoon, but I must admit I haven't made anything from it yet. There are tons of very tempting recipes in both books. I feel they are especially suited for us veggie gardeners. Smile

Let us know what you have tried. I must get it out and try some, too. However, I have a big stack of cookbooks just beside the sofa and I'm working on those at the moment. There's a long wish list of recipes from these books which I am about half-way through. So I'm doing quite well there, I feel. Will include the Spanish cookbook in my next big stack beside my sofa. Smile

Yes, maybe my system of trying out recipes is a bit weird. Grab a stack of cookbooks, go through them, mark the recipes you want to try (I write them on a big sheet of paper, with the name of the dish, name of cookbook and page number) and then go through the whole list till finished. Then put back this stack of cookbooks and start with a new stack. What a Face

Sounds a bit like my method - read the cookbook put it in a place where it looks like I'm into Gourmet cooking them cook something I made up myself using ingredients to hand! Like you I have a passion for good cookbooks and to be honest I rarely use recipes except some of my Indian scruffy paperback recipes books and my Curry book. I do use Ainslie Harriott's Cardamom Chicken faithfully because it is the best I've tasted. Have just finished rreading CRust. Good book! Bob is devouring it and making notes but not bread.

Ainsley's Friends and Family Cookbook. His best I reckon although I also use his Hot and Spicy one for inspiration on the Caribbean recipes.
