Re: freezing cold
Pretty awful here too. When it comes from the south west, we get all the antarctic weather. Being near the sea we don't get snow but it sure is windy. We've had a lot of rain, hail and wind but if you look at the July Calendar, you'll see I commented on the Moon's position and the chance of some crappy weather, so yes, rug up - Minestrone tonight.............Mulligatawny tomorrow.........Oxtail on Thursday, then I think there will be a soup objection.
Re: freezing cold
You're living in the wrong state sun is streaming through the windows here and I'm so warm I had to remove the long sleeves I had on this morning. The study faces nnw so I'm lucky to miss out on direct sun in summer but catch enough to heat this room up on a cold day through the winter.
Hope you lose none of your plants to that wind - they'll love the rain at least

Re: freezing cold
At least the South Westerlies don't bring salt just the rain and cold. It's the North Easters that killed my fruit trees last year. We've had to remove the peach tree that did so well for us for three years, it was totally dead. I think the figs are going to be the salt tolerant croppers in the future. I actually quite like the cold climate we have here - I go for my walk regardless of the weather, reminds me of my childhood in Yorkshire without the smog! I love the colour of the ocean when it's stormy and can watch it for hours. I can manage Queensland up to about October then it's too hot for me. This is the first full winter we've stayed home for the whole season so it's a bit of a shock.

Re: freezing cold
I just got back from a workshop in Burnie and there was a few short sprinkles of snow. Unusual at sea level. It is currently 6 degrees at 1.30 pm, so not likely to gt any warmer. I might read a book.............
Re: freezing cold
Cold and windy here too. But toasty warm inside. We had 7ml in the rainguage yesterday morning. Not much, but better than nothing.

Re: freezing cold
Commiserate Rainy - my daughter's lawn was covered in ice yesterday - said warm inside with the fire and oil heaters but outside is a no go area. Been watching the news and know it's been miserable weather down that way too. Cold here inside but lovely sitting out in the sun.

Re: freezing cold
Hope you wake up feeling better
My daughter lives in SW Qld - climate there is very extreme - hot as hades in summer - frigid in winter. Have a comfortable home so manage to weather it all LOL Kids don't go out to play until well after 4 pm in summer which, incidentally is why daylight saving doesn't work in Qld. They have a huge garden to play in with lots of shade. In winter they can usually find a warm sunny spot to play - kids don't seem to feel the cold as much as we do though.
