Sewing my own
I used to do a bit of sewing when my now adult children were little. Lately I have started getting back to sewing again as a way of being more self sufficient and having clothing in styles I like and that fit me!

Re: Sewing my own
What I love is homemade clothes can be made to fit the normal person.... also a length can be a justed. Love the striped top.
Re: Sewing my own
I like the fit part...how on earth people order clothes on mail order and they manage to fit I don't know.....Guzzi have never sewn but last week I managed to make 2 lots of curtains.....I was kinda proud cause even the thought of the bobbin running out was worrying me...after this little success I might do something else...

well done
if just starting out then making simple loose fitting clothes for around the house and garden would be a good place to start, then when you get more confident you can try for something you would be happy to be seen out of the house in.
There are a lot of fabrics being sold on ebay and is a good way to pick up something cheaper than off the roll. I'm finding that fabric shops are getting fewer and further between, and quite expensive.

Re: Sewing my own
You know, I have never used a sewing machine in my life..... growing up in the outback..... sewing wasn't on the list of subjects.....
Re: Sewing my own
thanks Lucky and Thee
I'm rather pleased with myself really considering how long it's been since I last sewed. But it seems I haven't forgotten what to do, even if I spend a lot longer reading the instructions. I wore the striped one to work and got quite a lot of comments, mostly about how bright it was!

Re: Sewing my own
I could never order on line--hard enough to get things to fit from the shops these days.
Plus the money you have to pay to have them delivered

Very nice tops.
I used to sew lots of my own clothes, must brush up the skills.
