Re: Planting out my spuds
Tuesday and Wednesday 5th and 6th August, failing which, 14th and 15th and 23rd 24th August. I'll be doing mine on 14th and 15th because I've got other stuff on on Tuesday and Wednesday. What varieties are you planting?
Re: Planting out my spuds
I have a kilo box of Desiree and 2 net bags of Nicola spuds. I have grown them twice before and used the straw method.
Last year I found with the water limit, the harvest was low. This year I am going to try the soil method and se if the soil keeping the plant cooler will give a higher yield.

Re: Planting out my spuds
Bury the spuds about a spades depth into soil and then mulch the top. The spuds grow in the soil rather than in straw on top of the soil.
