Cherokee Purple
I noticed on another thread that Ray had poor production on Cherokee Purple. I got exactly ten tomatoes on mine compared to 28 kilos on Bonnies Best and 30 kg on Brandywine Black ( seeds from Raymondo, thankee!) I wonder what it is with CP. This is 4 years I've had little amounts yet it is a fabulous tomato. I thought it might prefer a hotter climate. I'll give it one more year here, then give up on it.
Re: Cherokee Purple
I haven't had many tomatoes from Cherokee Purple either. The only reason why it's still in my garden is that it is very very tasty. What was Brandywine Black like? Is it tasty?
Re: Cherokee Purple
I'm trying out a purple black called JD's Special C-Tex said to have flavour just as good as Cherokee Purple but much better production. I'll let you all know how it goes. I'm still putting in Cherokee Purple though. The taste is worth it. I grew it for the nursery where I work last year. Not many people bought it but those that did want it again this year.
