When do you plant Dahlias and do you bury them or leave a bit on the surface? I should know but have memory loss due to hanging my head down while weeding....................

Hi Blossom,
I plant mine after the last danger of frost. Normally I plant in the first week of November here in the Adelaide Hills.
You bury them a little more than the tuber depth, you dont want them sticking out. If your soil is really good (and I am sure it is) they will need a stake (not a wagyu but a wooden one) They all grow quite tall and if the soil is good they tend to flop about. If the tubers already have shoots on them it doesnt matter if they are covered with soil or stick out a bit (depends on how long the shoots are). Protect from slugs and snails as the shoots are emerging.
Hope that helps
Cheers

Thanks Flower - pity we can't grow Wagyu in the garden eh? I'll follow directions and post a photo in due course.

I planted mine a few weeks ago, noticed they had starting to sprout, mine are the mini ones and pop them just under the soil level, the biggins stay in the grown all year around Suspect
