I have taken pictures of a spider that I found on a leaf of my Jerusalem Artichokes. (They can be found on my blog - just in case I can't figure out how to post a picture here. I shall try.)

I would be interested to learn what kind of spider this is.Spider identification Spider

How big is it? It looks like it's sitting in the picture, hard to distinguish its features - I can't say I've ever seem that colour in spiders. Did it have a web?

Hi Mad Gnome

She's a Bird Dropping Spider. Coz that's what they look like Wink
I've had one on my Pear tree for a while now. Mine has three egg sack and they stand guard over them until all the little babies (spiderlings?) hatch. The link below is to a Fact Sheet geek

Thanks, Scarecrow! I did at first think that was some big bird dropping, but on closer look discovered it had legs. I also hoped it would have a weird name - and so it did! Smile

Amazing things.

Admin, it's about 12-15mm big. First time I saw it here, too.

Fascinating reading on the fact sheet - isn't nature awesome! I can cope with most spiders but Huntsmen give me the creeps.
